With Camp Day 4 in Port Harcourt, we were already past mid-way in our nationwide search for Nigeria’s best football talent. Kaduna and Abuja was fun and Enugu was a beautiful romance, and Port-Harcourt famed for its oil wealth, metropolitan scenery, and home to the most fiery football clubs in the South-South Region, we looked forward to an exciting time.
With high expectations, Turf Season Scouting Team led by local organizing chair, Mr. Ifeanyi Ibeh, marched on to the No. 1 Field, Bende/Degema Street by Lagos Rd, where the future stars of Nigeria’s football gathered in ensemble to fight for a place to shine.
From the warm-up exercise to the small-sided game to the full-side sessions, the quality of passing, movement and technique was clear to behold. The players on the turf were truly stars and some shone even brighter. Will they outshine talents from the rest of the country? Will a Port-Harcourt claim Turf Season’s ultimate prize? Only time will tell.
