Game 48: 2023 Ends on Turf Note

A heavy downpour in November 2023 ensured Game 48 was moved to a late morning encounter on the stroke of December.

The Turf Tigers were raring to go against the Ghetto Tigers of Illupeju (Blue/Orange strip) with six players making the debut; Paul (GK), Nneji, Hart, Teslim, Olajuwon, Haybee (as a sub).

Both teams brought passion and confidence to play at a very high tempo, producing high-speed attacking football with both teams’ keepers producing great saves to share a clean sheet.

The Ghetto Tigers should have gotten one up when the referee awarded them a penalty, but a lack of composure ensured the ball went wide of the left post.
